BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum has appointed Alexis Rasset of Mandan, ND, to the Teachers’ Fund for Retirement (TFFR) board of trustees. The seven-member board is responsible for administering the pension program.

Rasset, a special education teacher at Mandan High School, holds a bachelor’s degree in composite social science education from Dickinson State University. She will represent active members during her five-year term on the board.

“The Teachers’ Fund for Retirement provides North Dakota’s public school educators with a foundation for a secure retirement,” said Retirement and Investment Office (RIO) Executive Director Jan Murtha.

The board consists of the state superintendent of public instruction, the state treasurer, and five members appointed by the governor. The appointed members include one active school administrator, two active elementary or secondary teachers, and two retired members.

The board has the authority to establish investment policy, arrange for actuarial and medical consultants, pay benefits and consultant fees, submit proposed legislative changes, and determine the appropriate level of services.

TFFR is a qualified defined benefit public pension plan with more than 25,000 participants, the majority are active members employed by public schools and state institutions. RIO manages the program on the board’s behalf.
